Abseil down the UK's tallest Premier Inn brings in £10,000 for GOSH
It was a very exciting day for the fundraising team at Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity when it was time for their much-anticipated charity abseil on the 21st of September 2023.
GOSH hosted this event with the help of their charity partner, Premier Inn. Therefore, it was only fitting that the chosen venue be the tallest Premier Inn building in the UK, found at their London Waterloo site. With participants descending from floor 12 to floor 4, this abseil boasted a thrilling height of 100 feet!
Over the course of the day, 53 incredible participants put their worries aside and took on the challenge in aid of GOSH’s ‘Build It, Beat It’ campaign.
It paid off - more than £10,000 was raised in just one day, all of which will go towards creating a world-leading Children’s Cancer Centre at Great Ormond Street Hospital. This will be a huge asset in helping drive transformations in children’s cancer care and in turn, save even more lives.
Hannah Thorndike, the charity's Partnership Management Executive gave her feedback on the event:
‘I just wanted to pass on a huge thank you from myself and the team for the amazing abseil event you helped to put on yesterday! It was hugely successful, and everyone had a great time. We were really impressed with how professional your team were, cultivating a fun environment, but also being expertly reassuring for the nervous participants!’
‘It was a brilliant day, and we were so happy with how the abseil went - your team were wonderful!’
This was a greatly successful and memorable day for all those involved across the GOSH, Premier Inn, and Big Bang teams. GOSH has already shown interest in getting more fundraising events organised for next year, and we at Big Bang are very much looking forward to working together again in the future.
