Santa Abseil At Hampshire Hospital Fundraises £23,000!

Hampshire Hospital’s Christmas gifts came not from Santa this year, but from their fabulous fundraisers! 80 brave participants took on this charity abseil on the 18th of November 2023, and raised over £23,000 for their NHS Trust.
The day was full of fun and fancy dress as abseilers could be seen descending 75-ft from Basingstoke’s main hospital building. Appearances were also made by The Grinch, Elf, and even a Christmas tree!
Festivities made their way inside the hospital as a live radio broadcast shared updates with patients and staff, along with tunes from Hospital Radio Basingstoke.
Among the sea of Santa’s were Hampshire Hospital’s chief operating officer, Andy Hyett, along with associate directors of nursing, Louise Fox and Katrina Mason.
Andy Hyett said: ‘What a fantastic experience and an even better result for our charity. Everyone’s spirits were so high on the day and it was an amazing atmosphere from start to finish.’
‘I want to say a huge thank you to every single person who got involved, donated or supported in any way. All funds raised for the charity help us to make a huge difference for our patients and their families and you’ve helped us to continue to do that.’
Hampshire Hospitals Charity is an NHS charity supporting patients, staff and volunteers and Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust across Basingstoke, Winchester, Andover and Alton hospitals.
They play a key role in enhancing the wellbeing of, and support for, NHS staff, patients and volunteers. Every pound donated is spent on improving, innovating and investing in hospital services to help the trust to provide outstanding care for patients.
