A Fantastic £13,000 Raised With Twin-Cage Abseil!

Big Bang recently completed another fantastic Twin-Cage Abseil event with The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital!

Twin-cage abseils involve combining two crane cages to allow for a double-line crane abseil, in situations where there may not be a suitable building.

Dubbed The Cliffhanger Challenge, this event was sponsored by local businesses Skyjack UK and Tuskers, and took place on the hospital grounds. On the 8th and 9th of June 2024, the Oswestry-based hospital had around 60 brave participants made up of surgeons, nursing staff, former patients, and volunteers.

The first participant to take on the 150-ft challenge was 80-year-old Beryl Angel, a volunteer at the hospital. She said: "It was truly an unforgettable experience; I have never done anything like it before, but I’m so pleased to have taken part."

By the end of the two days, an incredible £13,000 had been raised in aid of the Garden of Alice appeal, a recently-launched fundraising campaign aimed at creating a beautiful sensory garden for paediatric patients and their families.

This achievement was praised by the team at RJAH, with Charity Director Victoria Sugden saying: "A huge thank you to everyone who braved our Cliffhanger Challenge to raise funds for our Garden of Alice appeal."

Stacey Keegan, the hospital's Chief Executive, added: "Well done to all the brilliant participants – what a great event that people are still talking about!"

Another fantastic event with a great result - we can’t wait for the next one!
