Dublin Abseil Raises €12,000 For Pioneering Charity 'Special Olympics'!

We recently completed another fantastic weekend of abseiling from The Generator in Dublin, where we had the pleasure of working with the charity Special Olympics for the first time.

Founded in 1968, Special Olympics supports children and adults with intellectual disabilities. They offer opportunities to develop physical fitness by providing sports training and athletic competition, in the aim of building confidence and fulfillment. In March 2025, they will be holding a Winter Games in Turin, which will feature over 1,500 athletes from more than 100 different countries - incredible!

Although the charity has a jam-packed calendar of events worldwide, this was their first fundraising event of this kind, and we’re pleased to say it was a huge success for them. Between 25 eager participants, the 190ft abseil raised a grand total of €12,000!

This fantastic achievement will directly fund their grassroots programs in Health, Sport, and Leadership, supporting over 8,000 athletes across Ireland. These programs provide life-changing opportunities, equipping athletes with the skills, training, and encouragement they need to thrive on and off the field.

Feedback from abseilers has been extremely positive - everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day, and 80% have asked to do the event again in 2025! Gail De Loughry, the charity’s Fundraising Co-ordinator, commented on the event day -

“Absolutely amazing to work with the events team on the day, very professional and super friendly. All of our participants felt very supported and comfortable both with the safety elements and the amazing atmosphere on the day”

It’s always enjoyable for our team to work with new charities, and this was no exception; it’s great to see just how much impact these challenge fundraisers have!

We’re thoroughly looking forward to working with Special Olympics in the future!
