St George's Hospital Charity Raise an Incredible £20,000 with Abseil Event!

Imagine stepping off the edge of a building, heart racing, all for a great cause. That’s exactly what 57 brave participants did on March 14th and 15th, taking on an exhilarating 150-foot abseil challenge at the Pelican London Hotel and Residence, to support St George’s Hospital Charity.

For the fourth year running, our team was proud to help facilitate this incredible event. Participants from across the community, including members of the St George’s and Queen Mary's security teams, chaplaincy, physiotherapy, and neuro teams, as well as representatives from local schools and businesses, all took part. Even City St George’s leadership team and student union members stepped up - quite literally - to show their support.

By the end of the two-day event, an astonishing £20,000 had been raised! These funds will go towards vital projects that enhance the experience of patients, staff, and visitors at St George’s and Queen Mary’s Hospitals.

One of the standout participants was Reverend Obi, a member of the chaplaincy team. Reflecting on her experience soon after her descent, she shared:

“It was fun! I was very grateful I was able to do it for St George’s Charity. I hope more people get involved and help the charity raise even more money required for patients, staff, and visitors. Thank you to everyone who has supported.”

The event was not just about the adrenaline rush - it was about coming together as a community to make a real impact. Whether it was someone conquering their fear of heights or a team cheering on their colleagues, the atmosphere was filled with excitement and camaraderie.
