Stand Up To Cancer hosts Reverse Bungee Bum Wax with Channel 4 Presenters!

Rewritten in 2024

Channel 4's annual Stand Up To Cancer special took place on Friday 15th of October, this year hosted by Davina McCall, Alan Carr, Adam Hills and Maya Jama.

The evening consisted of many famous faces from the world of sport, film, music and comedy, as well as a SU2C Gogglebox special. Funds raised during the festivities go towards vital cancer research. This is a hugely important cause as figures now suggest that 1 in 2 people will receive a cancer diagnosis during their lifetime.

Throughout the evening, Joe Lycett was given the all-important job of updating the amount of money raised. The audience cheered as the show's fundraising target of £24 million was reached. This also meant it was time for the much-anticipated celebrity bum wax which we were teased with at the beginning of the show.

Channel 4 reached out to our brand UK Bungee Club to supply something that was going to be memorable and impactful. The concept of a 'reverse bungee bum wax' was landed on in hopes that this would bring in as many donations as possible. We were able to achieve this by using a Catapult Bungee, which was set up outside Wembley Stadium.

Adam Hills was harnessed up and attached to the cage, before it ascended to 160-ft. The wax strip was carefully applied to Adam, and once everything was in position, the team got ready for the release. The cord was pulled - Adam was quickly catapulted into the air, which in turn ripped off the wax strip! Anything for charity, eh?

By the end of the show, donations had reached an incredible total of £31 million, all of which would be going towards life changing cancer research.
