Sofas in the Sky: Big Bang Delivers Flying Sofa Zip Wire Stunt for Amazon Prime Video

Big Bang Experiences was commissioned by Amazon Prime Video to design and deliver a unique sofa zipwire stunt - a flying sofa, 25 metres in the air with TV personality Scarlett Moffatt on board - to bring attention to research revealing the UK’s growing attachment to the sofa after lockdown.


Amazon Prime Video wanted a stunt that was equal parts absurd and relatable. According to the study, nearly one in six people admitted to cancelling plans just to stay on the sofa, while over a third of 18–24-year-olds described having an “unbreakable bond” with theirs. The sofa has become more than just furniture; it’s a comfort zone, a screen-time sanctuary, and, for many, a lockdown lifeline.


Our team was tasked with making the impossible feel effortless: designing, engineering, and operating a 200-metre zipwire, suspended 25 metres above ground, strong enough to carry both Scarlett and a full-sized, three-seater sofa safely across the sky. The result was both technically ambitious and visually surreal. Exactly what the campaign needed.


Scarlett herself summed it up best:


“It was incredible to fly on the zipline on my trusty sofa. I’m no stranger to a couch at the best of times, and me and mine have gone through thick and thin during the pandemic. It’s fair to say we are very attached.”


From full technical build to on-site operations, Big Bang Experiences delivered this height-based brand activation end to end, safely, creatively, and on message. The campaign generated national coverage and brought smiles to people’s faces, all while highlighting a truth many could relate to: there’s no place like the sofa.
