Big Bang recently completed our first fundraising event with Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals Charity, and we’re pleased to report it was an amazing day!

With the help of a 160-ft crane, our crew set up this impressive twin-cage abseil in the grounds of Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

In total, 35 brave fundraisers came together to take on this towering free-abseil. Fundraisers were a mix of hospital staff from various wards, as well as individuals from the local community, and international students.

The final fundraising figure clocked in at a fantastic £11,844, with the top individual fundraiser contributing over £1,000 by themselves! It just goes to show: you don’t need a huge group to make a massive impact. Huge congratulations to DBTH Charity and all the participants for such an incredible effort.

DBTH’s Fundraising Manager Sarah Dunning said: ‘We have been overwhelmed with the support for the charity’s first abseil this weekend. Thank you to everyone who took part in the abseil and to those who supported participants– collectively your bravery and generosity will make a real difference to patient care and experience in our hospitals.’

About the charity

Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals’ Charity supports the Trust by funding extra equipment, services, and comforts that go beyond NHS funding. With help from the local community, they back innovative projects that make a real difference for patients, their families, as well as staff.

Following the success of this event, registration is now open for the next abseil challenge on Saturday 20th September. Sign up for £35, and aim to raise at least £200 in sponsorship.
