Abseil Raises Over £10,000 for Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital!

Last Thursday (September 25th), we were able to work with GOSH again at a familiar location – Premier Inn Canary Wharf!

Premier Inn are Great Ormond Street Hospital’s charity partner and have so far helped raise an incredible £27 million for the charity. This building stands proudly as the tallest Premier Inn in the UK and offered a thrilling abseil height of over 300 feet.

We previously delivered an abseil here for Great Ormond Street Hospital in 2023 from the 12th floor – but this time, participants took it even further and went right from the top, with an additional 200 feet added to the challenge.

Between 37 fundraisers, over £10,000 was raised for GOSH. Although the wind made for an interesting challenge on the day, our team were able to adapt – switching from a two-line abseil to sending participants one at a time, with extra staff supervising the active line. This flexible approach meant the event could go ahead safely, despite the high winds.

Raising such an impressive figure across a smaller group of fundraisers is a huge achievement. It highlights the dedication of GOSH supporters and their willingness to step up (and over!) when it matters most.

Together with supporters and fundraisers like these, GOSH is able to make hospital life a little easier and a lot more fun for thousands of children every year. The money raised from this event will help fund patient, family and staff support, child-centred facilities, cutting-edge equipment, and vital research into the rarest and most complex conditions.

By backing events like this, fundraisers are helping give seriously ill children the best chance, and the best childhood possible.

Vicky Tuff, Corporate Partnerships Manager for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, shared her experience working with Big Bang Experiences:

“The Big Bang Team were great! From working with Holly in the lead up and then Andy and the team on the day, we couldn't have been more impressed. It was clear the abseilers felt comfortable with all the staff and we would definitely work with them again!”

This event showed what’s possible when committed people take the step to support the charities they care about. The £10,000+ raised at Canary Wharf is proof that with the right challenge, supporters are ready to go above and beyond.
