We recently wrapped up another year of Zipslide the Clyde, in partnership with Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland!

This exciting multi-charity challenge spanned two action-packed weekends in August (15–17 and 22–24), bringing together enthusiastic fundraisers from 75 Scottish charities, all eager to take on the 200+ metre zip wire near Glasgow's Riverside Museum.

Now in its fourth year, the event has become a highlight of Scotland’s fundraising calendar, consistently generating outstanding support for a wide range of causes. This year was no different. Over six days, participants collectively raised an astonishing £400,000, with the organising charity, SBH Scotland, contributing more than £124,000 towards the total.

Achievements of this scale aren’t surprising when considering the passion, effort, and commitment shown by staff, volunteers, and supporters across the participating charities. Every individual who took part should feel immensely proud; this was the event's biggest fundraising achievement yet - a remarkable success for Scotland’s charity sector.

Among the many highlights was an unforgettable moment when SBH Scotland’s founder, Mae Whiteford, stepped forward to take on the challenge herself. At 93 years of age, Mae became the oldest person ever to Zipslide the Clyde. This was also a heartwarming full-circle moment, with Mae supporting the very charity she created six decades ago after her daughter was born with Spina Bifida and faced a lack of available support.

In addition, we’re delighted to share that SBH Scotland has been shortlisted for the Scottish Fundraising Awards 2025 in the category of Best Use of Event or Community Fundraising Initiative. This recognition is well deserved and a wonderful acknowledgement of the charity’s innovative and community-focused approach to fundraising.

For our Big Bang Experiences team, these were hugely rewarding weekends in Glasgow. We’re always inspired by the diversity of charities that take part and the enthusiasm they bring to this event year after year.
