Over £100,000 raised for Scottish Charities with Abseil at Port of Leith Distillery

On the 10th and 11th of May, Big Bang Experiences once again partnered with Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland (SBH Scotland) for an unforgettable weekend of abseiling in Leith, just outside Edinburgh.

This year was particularly special as we had the opportunity to work at an exciting new venue, the newly completed Port of Leith Distillery. This architectural landmark is the UK’s first and only vertical distillery, and just the second of its kind in Europe. Rising nine stories high, the building maximises its compact footprint with a vertical design: grain milling and mashing take place at the top, while distillation happens at the base.

Over the course of the weekend, more than 350 fundraisers representing 45 different charities took on the exhilarating 130-foot descent from our three-line abseil set-up. Spectators soaked up the sunshine as they watched participants descend with sweeping views of Leith Docks and the sea stretching out behind them.

As always, the fundraising effort was extraordinary. An incredible £48,000 was raised for SBH Scotland, with over £100,000 raised collectively for Scottish charities.
